Life Restoration Center

Counseling Services for Individuals and Families

Children's Trauma

Many of the adults in our women’s and men’s programs are fathers and mothers or husbands and wives who have families who are suffering along with the addict and experiencing trauma though their life experiences.. Life Restoration Center provides individual, group, and family counseling to children from the age of 3 years to 10 years old. Children in this program can also participate in therapeutic mentoring. Children who participate in our children’s trauma program have experienced sexual, emotional, or physical abuse; witnessed domestic violence; are in families that are experiencing addictions, such as substance abuse or sexual addictions; have had life-threatening crimes and experiences against them; are experiencing poverty and homelessness; or are working through grief and loss issues due to the incarceration or overdose of a parent. Using play therapy; art therapy; Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; EMDR; Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy; and other eclectic practices, such as progressive muscle relaxation; drama play;mindfulness; and sensory activities, children can work through their trauma story in a safe, caring environment. Life Restoration Center staff are trained in trauma and addictions and can address ACOA dynamics, anxiety, anger, and depressive symptoms sustained by the children who have experienced traumatic events. Some of our staff have worked with children for 15 to 40 years and are knowledgeable in behaviors, self-regulation, and other dynamics associated with trauma.

Our children's trauma group, for Kindergarten through 5th grade children, is held each Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
