Counseling Services for Individuals and Families

Men's Trauma and Addiction

Life Restoration Center provides individual and family counseling for trauma, level 3 substance abuse addiction, co-occurring, pornography, military veterans, and sexual addictions to men who have experienced any of the following: crimes and accidents against them, sexual and physical assault, childhood sexual and physical abuse, ACOA, and other forms of trauma. Using Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, ACT, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and other eclectic therapies (such as mindfulness and art therapy), men are able to address traumatic events that have been repressed from childhood and address current abusive and addictive trends. Clients will learn to have coping skills, confront negative self-worth, identify unhealthy patterns, become aware of triggers, set boundaries, put measures in place for safety, understand their strengths, and work towards empowerment and confidence. Many men who have not been able to address years of childhood trauma, and cannot remember fragments of their story, come to Life Restoration Center for assistance. Many of these same men cope with their trauma in negative ways such as pornography, seeking out promiscuous sexual encounters, using substances to numb the pain, selfharming, participating in risky behaviors, attempting suicide, responding in anger, being violent, and other addictive behaviors. Many of these men want to change but struggle with old patterns, negative coping mechanisms, and feeling trapped in the past. Life Restoration Center staff are trained in trauma and addictions and provide a safe place where clients are respected, listened to, and cared for.

Men's sexual addiction support group meets on Tuesdays from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and is led by Jonathan Hayashi, one of our board members.
